Organization:             Department of Children and Youth Services, City of Chicago

Project:                       Development of Citywide Program and Participant Tracking System for Out-of-School Time efforts

The City of Chicago Department of Children and Youth Services along with City partners After School Matters, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District and Libraries is working on a 3 year project to develop a comprehensive and sustainable Out-of-School Time (OST) system.  This project includes the development of organizational capacity and technical infrastructure that will help the Chicago partners provide Out-of-School Time activities to youth most in need of such services.  This work includes developing a Participant and Program Tracking System, a citywide communications effort to increase awareness on the need for OST activities, and the development of shared quality standards and tools for the partners to use in the development of quality programming for youth.

Organization:             City of Indianapolis and Marion County, Indiana

Project:                       Development of application requirements and Request for Proposal for the development and implementation of an AVL system for the City/County Fleet

The City/County are looking to implement AVL technology to improve the current business processes for the fleet management of sanitation and snow removal vehicles.This project includes the documentation of current workflow, routing, and assets to be managed; the development of requirements for fleet management/AVL systems; research of the best-in-class technology; and the development of an RFP document (to include a pilot program within) and selection criteria for the City/County to select a vendor.  The AVL project will likely integrate with GIS and CRM technologies currently in use at the City/County.

Organization:             State of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)

Project:                       Development of a needs assessment, strategic plan, implementation strategy and implementation support for IDOT

The Bureau of Information Processing of the Illinois DOT has taken the lead in developing and maintaining GIS data and applications for the DOT.  In this project, the goals are to review existing conditions and develop a strategic plan to create a more enterprise wide model/framework for GIS use within the DOT including the 9 District Offices.  The strategic plan focuses on all the various aspects of GIS implementation: organization, data, architecture, applications, maintenance, and integration with other DOT systems and state departments.

Organization:             Department of Children and Youth Services, City of Chicago

Project:                       Development of an IT strategy that will support the department programs

The Department of Children and Youth Services (CYS) is a newly formed department within the City.  The department serves children and youth through various programs including:  Head Start, Early Childhood Development, and various after school and summer youth programs. This project is to develop an IT strategy for the department to better track program enrollment and outcomes as well as to create applications or systems that integrate data across the various program areas.  Recent work has included the planning of the IT program implementation to help secure grant funding.

Organization:             Enterprise Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio

Project:                       Development of a framework/strategy for coalition of non-profits to provide low income tax counseling services

The Enterprise Foundation is a national non-profit organization that focuses on the social and economic redevelopment of urban areas.  The Enterprise Foundation along with the Cleveland Legal Aid Society, United Way and other local non-profits have worked to develop a framework for establishing a more comprehensive program for providing tax-counseling services especially focused on the Earned Income Tax Credit, within Cuyahoga County. The goal is to increase the number of County residents receiving the tax credit and to help alleviate poverty in the County.  Work has included the development and implementation of the program strategy as well as the implementation of technology to help manage the coalition. Organization:             Department of Planning and Development, City of Shaker Heights, OH          

Project:                       Project Planner for Recreation and Leisure Assessment

Supported Planning Director and Director of Community Life to develop a Recreation and Leisure Assessment to gather community input and desires for short, medium and long-term initiatives and facilities for recreation and leisure within Shaker Heights.  Coordinated public meetings managing the Taskforce for Recreation and Leisure appointed by the Mayor, and worked with hired consultants to develop the Recreation Study.  Supported the Horseshoe Lake Master Plan developing a Request for Proposal for the Shaker Swimming Pool and Recreational Center. Grant research and writing for additional funding for recreation projects.

Organization:             Office of Information Technology, State of Ohio

Project:                       Development for a Strategy for Implementing Grant Writing Program for Technology Project

Strategic Urban Solutions worked with the Project Office within the Office of Information Technology to develop a strategy for implementing grant research and writing into their annual project planning and budgeting process.  The goal is to incorporate these grant research functions into the organizational process and hopefully increase the amount of grant funding received by the State for technology projects.

Organization:             Auditor’s Office, Wayne County Ohio

Project:                       Development of Strategic/Operational Plan for GIS

The goal of this project is to develop a GIS Strategic Plan that will document the current workflows in the Auditor’s office, the GIS data needed for the office and how GIS can be integrated into the Auditor’s daily work environment. 

Organization:             Office of Demographics and Planning, Chicago Public Schools

Project:                       Development of Strategic/Operational Plan for GIS and ArcIMS Prototype

The Department of Capital Programming and Demographics requested a GIS Strategic Plan be written for the Chicago Public Schools to help define what departments needed for map creation and spatial analysis, to help guide the development of data and applications, to propose a GIS organizational structure and hardware/software architecture that would meet the goals of implementing a GIS system across the CPS administrative offices and into the schools themselves. 

Organization:             Department of Information Services, Chicago Housing Authority

Project:                       Development of Strategic/Operational Plan for GIS

The Chicago Housing Authority’s (CHA) Information Technology Services Division (ITS) has been working to improve, integrate and automate more of the processes at the CHA so technology can help with their multiyear Plan for Transformation to improve public housing in the City of Chicago.  One way that ITS fulfills its mission, is through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology.  For the last three (3) years, ITS has begun to build the foundations of a GIS system for use by all CHA departments.    In order to realize the potential of GIS within the CHA as an organization, a GIS Strategic Plan was developed to help put into operation an enterprise GIS for the CHA.
